Glass-lined reactor, also known as glass-lined reactor or enamel reactor, is a kind of reaction vessel coated with a layer of glass material(a special glass material)on the inner wall of the metal (usually carbon steel or stainless steel). This design combines the strength of metal and the corrosion resistance of glass, making it suitable for various chemical and physical reactions. The structure and principle of glass-lined reactor are as follows:
Glass-lined reactor Structure:
Vessel body:The vessel body is the main part of the reactor, typically made of low carbon steel or stainless steel, to ensure sufficient mechanical strength and pressure bearing capacity.
Glass lining:The inner wall of the vessel body is coated with a layer of glass lining, which is firmly bonded to the metal vessel body through high-temperature sintering, forming a smooth, dense and corrosion-resistant lining.
Lid:The lid is typically also coated with glass lining to prevent corrosion and provide the same chemical compatibility as the vessel body. The lid can be equipped with one or more sight glasses for easy observation of the reaction process.
Agitation system:The agitation system often includes an agitator shaft, impellers, and a drive device. The impellers are designed to provide effective material mixing and may be made of different materials to suit specific process requirements.
Heating and cooling system:The reactor may be equipped with a jacket or other heating and cooling devices for temperature control during the reaction process. These systems can be jacketed, coiled or electrically heated, etc.
Pipes and accessories:The reactor is also equipped with various pipes and accessories, such as charging and discharging ports, thermometer ports, pressure gauge ports, breathing ports, etc., for material charging and discharging, temperature and pressure monitoring and safety pressure relief.
Principle:The working principle of the glass-lined reactor is based on the chemical or physical reaction process of stirring and heating in the reactor. The metal structure of the vessel body provides the necessary mechanical strength and pressure bearing capacity, while the glass lining offers excellent corrosion resistance, allowing the reactor to handle various chemicals without material contamination.
Working principle of glass-lined reactor:the material is added to the reactor through the charging port, and the agitation system is started to achieve uniform mixing of the material. The heating or cooling system adjusts the temperature in the reactor according to the process requirements to control the reaction rate and product quality. After the reaction is completed, the product is discharged through the discharge port.
Glass-lined reactor Applications:Glass-lined reactors are highly practical and advantageous in chemical reaction processes. In the laboratory, glass-lined reactors are commonly used for small-scale experiments and catalytic reactions. In industrial production, glass-lined reactors can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature chemical reactions, making them very suitable for the production needs of small and medium-sized chemical companies.
Glass-lined reactors are widely used in the chemical industry because they can withstand corrosion from a variety of acids, alkalis, salts and other chemicals, and are easier to operate than metal reactors, and are more affordable. At the same time, compared with other types of reactors, glass-lined reactors also have the advantages of simple operation, low maintenance cost, and fast reaction rate, so they have been widely used in the field of chemical reactions.
